About the artwork
Exploring the duality between movement and inertia, Loop Variation uses the tactility and weight of physical textiles to attenuate the perpetual motion of a large-scale yarn simulation, creating a physical representation of a single moment in an infinite, programmed pattern of growth. By taking this ‘moment’ outside of its simulated context, the artist can deviate each individual yarn from its pre-determined course, upsetting the inevitability of a controlled digital environment by introducing the unpredictability of creative whim. The result is an object that has strayed from its digitally-determined ‘destiny’; an unexpected deviation from an infinitely predictable trajectory.
“Working between digital and physical media is almost unavoidable for any artist creating in modern times. The challenge is discovering ways of embracing the possibilities offered by technology, while keeping tradition, craft and hands-on creativity alive.”

Yambo
1989
Born in Israel, Yambo is a Tel-Aviv based artist whose creative practice is concerned with hybridizing digital and physical media as a means of reflecting on the constant oscillation between virtual and real-world environments that has become characteristic of modern life.
This fascination with our 'digitized' reality translates into sculpture, [moving] imagery, and multimedia installations that bring together craft, technology, AI, and nature, allowing for new aesthetic expressions that amalgamate data and creativity into a mutual language based on imagery. Through the combination of research-led creative methodologies and trained AI systems, Yambo strives to wield new creative tools to materialize alternative realities via a media-agnostic practice.
For over 10 years, Yambo has been directing high-end commercial productions, and exhibiting work at cultural institutions and events, including the Beijing Art Biennale, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Miami Art Basel, and the Eretz Israel Museum.

Fusion of Digital and Physical Craftsmanship
"Loop Variation" represents Yambo’s unique ability to seamlessly blend two seemingly divergent worlds: the physical tactility of textiles and the infinite possibilities of digital simulation. By capturing a moment from an endless digital yarn pattern and recreating it through labor-intensive handcraft, the piece is a testament to both technological precision and human unpredictability. This fusion makes it a must-have for collectors interested in the convergence of art, craft, and cutting-edge technology.

Standout Work in Yambo's Career
As one of Yambo’s early forays into textile-based artwork, "Loop Variation" holds particular significance within his career trajectory. Known for his work in the Web3 space and digital art, this piece marks a pivotal moment where his practice expanded into physical media, setting the stage for many of his subsequent hybrid works. Owning this piece means participating in an essential chapter of the artist's evolving narrative—an opportunity to engage with the genesis of his textile-digital fusion.
